History

 

1867

The trading company A. Zwanenburg is founded in Haarlem (Holland). In the beginning of the 20th century the company moves to Rotterdam.

1940

During the bombing of Rotterdam in 1940 (World War II) the building is completely destroyed. A. Zwanenburg moves to Zwijndrecht where an old glass factory is refurbished.

1946

The Dutch companies Spyer and Van der Vijver, both active in silverskin onions and pickles, merge. The new company SBV is located in Rijnsburg.

1955

A. Zwanenburg acquires Vinks Conserven in Dodewaard, a producer of apple juice in bottles. SVZ produces fruit and vegetable concentrates, compounds and aseptic purees in this factory.

1956

SBV moves from Rijnsburg to Baarland where a new factory is built. Currently this is the factory where SVZ has her production of silverskin onions and pickles.

1963

A. Zwanenburg moves from Zwijndrecht to Etten-Leur, where a new factory is constructed. Apart from silverskin onions and sulphited fruit, which are the only industrial activities, the main activity is the production of consumer products (jams, juices, canned and bottled pickles).

1971

SBV and A. Zwanenburg merges and SVZ is formed.

1972

SVZ is taken over by Nutricia.

1979

The production of consumer products ceases and SVZ continues with industrial fruit and vegetables.

1982

SVZ is taken over by Volmac.

1982

SVZ France, a sales office, is established in Paris.

1986

Cosun acquires SVZ, who is up to now the shareholder.

1987

A new factory is built in Almonte (Huelva), the main strawberry area in Spain and SVZ Spain is set up.

1988

A sales office is started in London: SVZ UK.

1992

Netra Agro, a trading company specialised in exotic fruit and vegetables, is set up in Etten-Leur.

1994

SVZ China is founded as trading office in Xiamen.

1995

SVZ Romania, a purchasing office, is founded in Bucharest.

1996

SVZ aquires Tomasovia in Tomaszów Lubelski, wich is known as SVZ Poland now.

2000

SVZ acquires Agrico in Opole Lubelski, a pre-cooling station for fruit, in the middle of the biggest raspberry area in Poland.

2000

SVZ buys a factory in Othello (Washington) USA . This apple juice concentrate plant, which was formerly owned by Seneca, is changed totally to make it suitable for fruit juice concentrate, aseptic purees and concentrated purees.

Sales of SVZ Baarland to Crop Alliance

SVZ opens their new concentrate factory in Tomaszów Lubelski and production of Hien Dodewaard is transferred to Poland.

SVZ opens sales office in Moscow, Russia

SVZ Spain installs aseptic production line in Almonte (Spain)

SVZ starts Verifruit® production in Etten-Leur

 2007

SVZ opens a new factory for puree and compounds production in Etten-Leur. The production of puree and concentrate in Hien Dodewaard is transferred to Etten-Leur, and Hien Dodewaard is closed
